I have yet to understand the allure of Opalite. A few years ago while mooching around a crystal stall in Cambridge I found this piece of Opalite...
...I had never seen it before and I was drawn to it's play of colour, it didn't feel like a stone, more like a resin such as Amber.
I asked what it was. "Opalite, it's helpful for removing energy blockages and encourages light heartedness and vivid dreams." When I got home I looked through all my crystal books and couldn't find it, so I went searching around the web. Opalite is in fact a trade-name for a man-made stone. It is usually made of plastic resin and the play of colour is created from inclusions of cellophane!!
Okay, call me a 'stone snob' or 'crystal purist' if you must, but I just don't understand how this has made it into the crystal market, and it has, BIG TIME, every crystal and mineral wholesaler has stocks of this 'Frankenstein stone'.
To make matters worse and more confusing for those starting their crystal journey Common White Opal (a proper crystal) is sometimes marketed as 'Opalite'
Common White Opal available here
Interestingly Common White Opal has similar healing energies to those that have been attributed to it's synthetic cousin Opalite.
The energy of Common White Opal is purifying and cleansing, especially to your etheric body, it is associated with the angelic realm and is an ideal gift to leave with a wish for your favourite angel. It is also useful for drawing out dis-ease that is caused by painful emotions being buried deep within due to previous abuse. It helps you to face these issues and release them. Common Opal encourages positivity and heightens psychic abilities.
I smell a rat :) What do you think, would you buy it?
